Me Time
A Warm Welcome at Read Out
Amid all the horrible headlines, the NY Times had this silver lining: "The culture war is over and Bad Bunny won!"
Last week I was in Florida during what was disappointingly a relative cold spell. It's hard to complain since I was able to leave the frozen tundra that's been New York City for a place with temps that ranged from over 40 to not quite 70. But I was hoping for a better weather getaway that would include shorts and t-shirts. Oh well.
The best thing about the trip was the time I spent at the Read Out event--3 days of Sapphic lit panels and other fun stuff. I was there with three colleagues from the Golden Crown Literary Society, staffing our info table and talking to folks about our upcoming Orlando conference in August. It was great seeing so many author friends and having dinner with my friend from college who lives in Tampa.
It's events like Read Out that help me stay sane and joyful amidst all the awfulness that's out there. Congrats to Jamie, Kelsey, Macon, and all the other Read Out organizers. Great job!
